What the math looks like for a steakhouse.

6,200 transactions a month at a 0.6% dispute rate is about 37 disputes a month. At $128 in combined cost plus a $146 average ticket, that is roughly $10,100 a month of exposure before staff time, and before the dinners the guests already ate.

Elevated band protection at 0.2 to 0.4% of each sale is about $1,800 to $3,600 a month against that. Signature and receipt confirmation on large parties and split checks removes the easy claims. The evidence record answers the rest.

Questions merchants ask before they sign.

What does it cost?

Standard band: 3¢ per protected transaction. Elevated band: 0.2 to 0.4% of each sale. High band: 0.6 to 0.8% of each sale. All three sit on top of card processing, which passes through at cost. The exact rate inside a range is set at assessment from your processing history.

Why is one band flat and the others a percentage?

In the Standard band the risk is per transaction: many sales, modest tickets, few disputes, so protection is a flat few cents each. In the Elevated and High bands exposure scales with the size of the sale, so protection is priced against the sale.

How is my band set?

From four things: your merchant category, your average ticket against that category's median, your dispute rate, and whether you sell in person, online, or both. The assessment confirms it against your actual processing history.

Can my band change?

Yes, in both directions. Bands are reviewed against your dispute ratio. A merchant whose ratio falls can move down; a merchant whose exposure grows can move up. Either way you see it before it applies.

Is processing marked up?

No. Card-network and processor fees pass through at cost. ChargeSecured's revenue is the per-transaction protection rate on protected sales.

Is there a platform fee or minimum?

No. There is no SaaS subscription, seat cost, or minimum. You pay the band rate on protected transactions and your processing at cost, nothing else.

Do I need new hardware?

For in-person sales, the terminal software runs signature, ID, and photo capture on supported registers. Online sales integrate through the checkout SDK with nothing to install.

Do you guarantee that disputes are won?

No, and no one honest can. Issuers and card networks decide disputes. ChargeSecured builds the evidence at checkout and files the response when a claim lands, which is what changes the outcome you can control.

Is there a contract?

Month to month, with no lock-in. You keep your existing acquiring relationship; protection layers on top of it.
